APPLIQUE FLOWER

With smaller needles and MC, CO 25 sts.

Row 1: K into front and back every st — 50 sts.

Row 2: * P1, P into front and back of next st, rep from * to end — 75 sts.

Change to larger needles and work Swedish Weave pattern on all sts for 4 rows. Cut CC. Change to smaller needles. With MC, P 1 row, K 1 row. BO Pwise, leaving long end for sewing. Weave end along the CO edge and draw together tightly to form center of flower.

Cut a 15" length of both MC and CC. Tie the strands together with an overhand knot at each end. Form twisted cord as follows: Have a buddy hold one knot, or loop it over a sturdy table leg. Insert a knitting needle between the strands at the other end and start twisting. Twist until you think you’ve done enough, then twist some more. The more you twist, the better your cord. Bring the knots together, allowing the cord to twist back on itself. Tie the two knot ends together. You should end up with a tidy rope. Twist into a coil and tack to flower center. Try on stole to determine desired placement of flower. Sew flower in place. Sew leaves around flower as shown in photo. Sew one part of snap to WS of stole beneath center of flower, and other part of snap in corresponding position at opposite end of stole.

Weave in ends and block to finished measurements.
