CO 64 (72, 78) sts. Work K2 P2 ribbing for 2", ending with a WS row.

Row 1 (RS): P5 (5, 6), K54 (62, 66), P5 (5, 6).

Row 2: K5 (5, 6), P54 (62, 66), K5 (5, 6).

Rep these two rows until piece measures 9" (10½", 12") from beg, ending with a WS row.

Shape Armholes
Maintaining pattern as established, BO 3 (4, 4) sts at beg of next two rows, then dec 1 st at beg and end of every RS row 5 times — 48 (54, 60) sts.

Work even until piece measures 15½" (17½", 19½") from beg, ending with a WS row.

Shape Back Neck
K12 (15, 17) sts, place rem sts on holder. BO 1 (2, 2) sts at beg of next row — 11 (13, 15) sts. K 1 row, P 1 row. BO.

Rejoin yarn to held sts. BO center 26 (28, 28) sts. K to end of row. P 1 row. BO 1 (2, 2) sts at beg of next row — 11 (13, 15) sts. P 1 row. BO.

Front

Work as for back until piece measures 9" (10½", 12") from beg, ending with a WS row.

Shape Armholes & Front Neck
BO 3 (4, 4) sts, K29 (32, 35), place rem sts on holder. CO 4 sts for front facing.

Next row (WS): P4, K1, P to end.

Next row: Dec 1, K27 (30, 35), P1, K4.

Continue in pattern as established, dec 1 st at beg of every RS row 4 times more — 28 (31, 34) sts. Work even until piece measures 4½", (5", 5½") from beg of armhole shaping, ending with a RS row.

Next row: BO 9 (10, 11) sts at neck edge, P to end of row.
Next row: K
Next row: BO 3 sts at neck edge, P to end of row.

Then dec 1 st at neck edge every row 5 times — 11 (13, 15) sts. Continue without shaping until piece measures 7" (7½", 8") from beg of armhole shaping, ending with a WS row. BO.

Return held sts to needle and reattach yarn at center. CO 4 sts for front facing. K4, P1, K to end of row.

Next row: BO 3 (4, 4) sts, P28 (31, 36), K1, P4. Continue in pattern as established, dec 1 st at armhole edge every RS row 5 times — 28 (31, 34) sts. Work even until piece measures 4½", (5", 5½") from beg of armhole shaping, ending with a WS row.

Next row: BO 9 (10, 11) sts at neck edge, K to end of row.
Next row: P
Next row: BO 3 sts at neck edge, K to end of row.

Then dec 1 st at neck edge every row 5 times — 11 (13, 15) sts. Continue without shaping until piece measures 7" (7½", 8") from beg of armhole shaping, ending with a WS row. BO.

Sleeves

CO 30 (32, 34) sts. Work K2 P2 ribbing for 2". Change to st st and inc 6 sts evenly across the next row — 36 (38, 40) sts. Inc 1 st at beg and end of every 4th row 8 (5, 0) times, then every 6th row 3 (6, 10) times — 58 (60, 62) sts. Continue without shaping until piece measures 11" (12", 13") from beg.

Shape Sleeve Cap
BO 3 (4, 4) sts at beg of next 2 rows. Dec 1 st at beg and end of every row 4 (3, 4) times, then dec 1 st at beg and end of every other row 5 times, then dec 1 st at beg and end of every row 8 times — 18 (20, 20) sts. BO rem sts.

Finishing

Sew front to back at shoulders. Sew sleeves to armholes. Sew side and sleeve seams.

Hood
With RS facing, pick up and K 22 sts along right front neck, 32 sts across back neck and 22 sts along left front neck — 76 sts. Place a marker at the center back neck, between the 38th and 39th st.

Next row (WS): P4, K1, P66, K1, P4. Continue in st st with facings as established until piece measures 8½" (9", 9"), ending with a WS row.

Next row (RS dec row): Work to within 2 sts of marker, SSK, sl marker, K2tog, work to end.

Rep RS dec row every RS row twice more.

Next row (WS dec row): Work to within 2 sts of market, P2tog, sl marker, P2tog TBL, work to end.

Work appropriate dec row every row 4 times — 62 sts.

Sl first 31 sts to another needle, fold hood so needle points are parallel and join top of hood with 3 needle BO.


Turn facings to WS along edge of front openings and hood and sew in place. Sew zipper in place at front opening, being sure to secure lower edge of zipper to inside of garment.


Weave in ends and block to finished measurements.
